Mohamed Charo
Mohamed Charo is our representative on the ground. He organises the monthly meetings of Mama Afrika members, controls the loan repayments and sends us monthly project reports.

Emmily & Mbetsa
Emmily and Mbetsa run a village shop in Mtwapa (40 000 inhabitants) which was founded in 2006. Since 2007, they have expanded the business to include a restaurant. They also invest in an agricultural market garden. Their vegetables are used in the restaurant.

Margaret
Margaret, a reliable partner, serves social and public services (hospitals, schools, prisons) with high-quality and inexpensive tablecloths and bed linen which she sources from neighbouring Tanzania. She has also been breeding chickens since summer 2008 with Seline.

Riziki & Mohamed
In 2007 Riziki and Mohamed built a foodstore in Likoni in the south of Mombasa. This had to be closed due to the rioting. Now they cultivate vegetables and fruits on their own soil.

Patrick
Patrick joined in 2007 with a business for Chinese medicine. Due to the crisis, his volume of sales collapsed and he transferred to the transport business.

Veronika und Austin
Veronika and Austin have been running a bar since October 2007 which they expanded to include a snack bar in 2008. The monthly Mama Afrika meetings take place in their “Ausver’s Bar”. Cultural events also take place there.

Seline
Seline has a chicken breeding business with Margaret. The chickens are sold to hotels, restaurants and private individuals.

Aisha & Suleiman
Suleiman trades with Charcoal. The charcoal is collected in the savannah and sold to the people in the city. Since mid 2009 they sell fresh vegetables and offer a breakfrest bar.

She operates a restaurant in the city with 3 employees.

WOMEN
A tailoring company operated by 5 trainees and one master dressmaker.

John
John is a painter and carpenter. He sells his products in the "Africa house".

Ali u. Rashid
Operate a surfing school at the beach of mombasa. With the profit from this company they finance a school for about 70 children.
